Our Team

  • Amy McGinn, Director

Amy McGinn has been an early childhood educator and advocate for more than 20 years. She has experience teaching all ages, from infants to adults, creating and providing teacher training on a variety of topics, and teaching early childhood classes for a community college. Amy has worked in public schools, a NAEYC accredited child care center, a social services agency (in Head Start), and a community college, with culturally and socioeconomically diverse populations. Her passion is bringing awareness to the needs of rural communities, and her former work in Head Start within a mostly-rural seven county area gave her the courage to find her advocacy voice.

Amy grew up in Sioux City, and earned her BA in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education from Morningside College (now University!). She earned her Master of Education degree from UNI, and is also a certified Playmaker with the Life is Good Playmaker Project. She is a member of the Affiliate Advisory Council for the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and sits on the boards of the Iowa Association for the Education of Young Children, and Partnerships 4 Families.

Amy loves taking road trips with her husband of more than 25 years and their teenage son. Route 66 and the National Parks are their favorite destinations.
